Day 1 Fly from Addis Ababa to Gonder, Drive to Debark

Distance: Approximately 100 kilometers
Upon arrival in Gonder, catch a domestic flight from Addis Ababa. Upon landing in Gonder, meet your guide and embark on a scenic drive to Debark, the gateway to the Semien Mountains. Check into your accommodation in Debark and prepare for the trekking adventure ahead.

Day 2 Debark to Sankaber

Distance: Approximately 12 kilometers
Hours of Trekking: 5-6 hours
Begin your trek from Debark to Sankaber, the first campsite in the Semien Mountains. Marvel at the panoramic views of the mountain range and encounter local wildlife such as gelada baboons and Ethiopian wolves.

Day 3 Sankaber to Getch

Distance: Approximately 17 kilometers
Continue your trek from Sankaber to Geech. Traverse through rugged terrain, hike along cliff edges, and experience stunning views of deep valleys and towering peaks. Along the way, keep an eye out for Ethiopian wolves and other unique wildlife. Arrive at the Geech campsite and immerse yourself in the breathtaking mountain scenery.

Day 4 Geech to Chenek

Distance: Approximately 12 kilometers
Trek from Geech to Chenek, passing through picturesque landscapes and encountering the iconic Walia ibex, a species endemic to the region. Marvel at the dramatic cliffs and high-altitude meadows as you make your way to the Chenek campsite, surrounded by stunning mountain peaks.

Day 5 Chenek to Ambiko

Distance: Approximately 17 kilometers
Embark on a challenging trek from Chenek to Ambiko. Ascend steep trails, cross high passes, and descend into lush valleys. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of the Semien Mountains. Arrive at Ambiko, the last village on the trek, and rest for the night.

Day 6 Ambiko to Ras Dashen Summit and Back to Ambiko

Distance: Approximately 14 kilometers (round trip)
Today is the highlight of your trek as you conquer the summit of Ras Dashen, standing at 4,550 meters. Begin your ascent early in the morning, navigating challenging terrain and conquering the highest peak in the Semien Mountains. Enjoy the awe-inspiring panoramic views from the summit before descending back to Ambiko for a well-deserved rest.

Day 7 Ambiko to Chenek and Return to Debark

Distance: Approximately 29 kilometers
Bid farewell to Ambiko as you retrace your steps back to Chenek. Enjoy the familiar landscapes and stunning vistas along the way. From Chenek, continue your journey back to Debark, where you’ll conclude your trekking adventure in the Semien Mountains.
Transfer to hotel for overnight

Day 8 Drive from Debark to Gonder, Fly to Addis Ababa

Distance: Approximately 100 kilometers
In the morning, drive back to Gonder from Debark. Upon arrival in Gonder, embark on a morning tour of the city, visiting historical sites such as the Royal Enclosure, Fasil Ghebbi, and the famous Debre Birhan Selassie Church. In the afternoon, take a domestic flight back to Addis Ababa.
