Arrival to Juba City South Sudan
Morning: Arrive in Juba, South Sudan’s capital. Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Check in, rest, and freshen up after your journey. Afternoon: Take a relaxed orientation walk around the city. Visit Juba Market, where you can browse local crafts, handmade items, and fresh produce. Enjoy time learning how daily trade supports community life across the region. Evening: Dinner at Afex Restaurant near the White Nile riverbank, enjoying the atmosphere of the riverfront. Optional: a short scenic stroll to take in the evening views. Overnight: Amarat Rainbow Hotel (or similar) Meal: None
Juba – Dinka Tribe Village 260 kms
Morning: Depart Juba and travel toward a Dinka community. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by local hosts and invited to learn about their way of life. Afternoon: Engage with the community through conversation and guided cultural exchange. Participate in a traditional Dinka wrestling session (or related initiation activities), learning the meaning behind the games—strength, discipline, and cultural pride. Evening: Enjoy dinner on a campsite setting. Sit with your hosts for informal storytelling and cultural discussion under the evening sky. Overnight: Camping Meal: BLD
Drive Dinka – Mundari Tribal Land 285 kms
Morning: Continue your journey into the Mundari region. Visit local cattle camps and meet pastoralists as they go through daily routines centered on livestock, care, and seasonal movement. Afternoon: Experience Mundari traditions through observation and interaction. Participate in cultural sharing sessions that introduce traditional values, community roles, and everyday life. Evening: Camp outdoors under the stars. Evening fireside moments: stories, song, and shared time with the community (where welcomed). Overnight: Camping
Drive Mundari – Lopit Villages
Morning: Travel toward the Lopit Hills, enjoying scenic views and gradual changes in landscape. Your guide will share background on local geography and the traditions tied to each area. Afternoon: Visit a Lopit village and engage in community life. Join in local farming activities and learn about agricultural practices and food systems that sustain the region. Gain insight into how seasons shape work, community schedules, and cultural rhythms. Evening: Settle into camp as the hills cool down. Relax and enjoy a calm evening atmosphere. Overnight: Camping
Drive Lopit – Lotuko to Illeu Village
Morning: Head toward the Lotuko area. Begin with a 45-minute trek uphill to reach the village. Once there, meet the community, explore nearby surroundings, and view local crafts and traditional handiwork. Afternoon: Watch traditional Lotuko dance performances. Learn how dance and movement express identity, celebration, and community history. Time for questions and guided cultural interaction. Overnight: Camping
Lotuko – Larim (Imatong Hills)
Morning: Journey toward the Imatong Hills to visit the Boya/Larim community. Along the way, enjoy changing scenery and learn about the significance of the Imatongs to local culture. Afternoon: Meet the Larim people, known for their unique cultural heritage including body scarification traditions (where appropriate and respectful). Interact with community members and learn about cultural values, traditions, and artistic expression. Experience dancing performances and cultural storytelling sessions. Drive Back to Juba
Morning: Depart early for the drive back to Juba. Enjoy the scenic route and reflect on the culture and experiences of the past week. Afternoon: Arrive in Juba and check in. Take time to rest, shower, and recover in comfort. Evening Optional: a relaxed evening walk or final dinner in Juba’s city atmosphere. Overnight: Royal Palace Hotel (or similar)
