Itinerary
Day 1: Fly ADD - SEMERA & drive to Erta Ale volcano
Morning flight from Addis Ababa to Semera (06:45-08:05). Take a scenic drive to Lake Afdera. Continue the drive to the volcano base followed by a one-hour hike to the rim. Spend the night camping by the rim of the active Erta Ale volcano, witnessing the lava lake under the stars.
Day 2: ERTA ALE - MEKELE - ADDIS
Early wake-up at 4:30 AM. Explore Dallol's colorful hydrothermal fields and the salt flats of Hamedela. Drive to Mekele and take an evening flight back to Addis Ababa. Overnight stay in Addis.
Day 3: ADDIS - GONDAR
Drive into Gondar city. Visit the famous King Fasilede's Royal Enclosure (Fasil Ghebbi), Debre Birhan Selassie Church with its iconic ceiling of winged cherubs, and other historical sites. Overnight at Goha Hotel.
Day 4: GONDAR - LALIBELA
Flight from Gondar to Lalibela. Visit the world-renowned rock-hewn church of St. George (Bet Giyorgis), the most iconic of Lalibela's churches. Overnight in Lalibela at Sora or Mezena Lodge.
Day 5: Fly back to ADDIS
Morning at leisure or optional final church visits. Fly from Lalibela back to Addis Ababa, marking the conclusion of this spectacular Northern Ethiopian circuit.
